September is an exciting month at the library, and not just because librarians are naturally excitable creatures. For example, there's Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori – Māori Language Moment.
Come celebrate the moment the Māori Language Petition was presented to Parliament in 1972, on the first Māori Language Day. Three years later it became what we now know as Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.
Read more at Te Petihana Reo Māori — The Māori Language Petition - New Zealand Parliament.
The plan is to meet up at our Kia Kaha te Reo tohu in the Welcome area on Mezzanine Floor, Central Library, and sing Tūtira Mai. Thursday 14th September 11:45am, singing at 12pm.
Register at www.reomaori.co.nz, or just show up.
Watch this video to learn the waiata: Tama Huata Tutira Mai Nga Iwi, or come along to Manu Hāpai .
Kia pai te rā.
